My first kidlit illustration project was offered to me by the publisher Pratham Books. In this story by Chatura Rao, Mira is heading to boarding school soon while her brother Aarav and her father try to create a memorable last day at home for her. I needed some time to settle into the illustrations for this one, as evident by the many style explorations I created while looking for something that felt right.
The final spreads (shown here without text) have a light, pastel-like quality to them. Though I was greatly frustrated with them at the time of drawing, the look has come to grow on me since the project.
